The History Of Radio Wulfrun

  • 1983 Station opened in September, broadcasting to New Cross Hospital three nights a week from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. The Station was funded by Marks & Spencer, New Cross Hospital League of friends, Patients Aid and WRVS.

  • 1985 The Royal hospital linked up to the station at New Cross.

  • 1988 Broadcasting increased to four nights a week 7:00pm to 10:00pm, and Saturday's at 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Football Commentary from Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club at the Molineux commenced.

  • 1990 Service to the Royal Hospital ceased in anticipation of the relocation of Royal Hospital to New Cross Hospital.

  • 1991 Broadcasting increased to five nights a week from 7:00pm to 10:00pm and Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm.

  • 1993 10 years Anniversary for Radio Wulfrun.

  • 1995 Broadcasting extended to current level, five nights a week from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm and Three hours on Sunday, plus 10:00am to 12:00noon Monday to Friday.

  • 1997 Deansley Centre connected to Radio Wulfrun.

  • 1998 R.S.L restricted service licence granted to celebrate 50 years of the national health service.

  • 2000 A further R.S.L granted to Radio Wulfrun to celebrate the millennium.

  • 2001 Fundraising started to buy new equipment, total raised £11,000 from local companies.

  • 2003 Radio Wulfrun website launched.

  • 2004 Fundraising started for a second studio.Target of £11000.00

  • 2005 New studio fitted in studio 1.

  • 2005 connection to Patientline.
